Project Description

PRIVATE VILLA ST.MORITZ. REALISATION.

ABOUT

Our Client’s architectural brief was “to express essence of the Alps and the Engadin mountains”. We came up with the concept of a growing crystal embedded within the dramatic Swiss landscape.

We organised the building as a sundial where every principal space would have its own unique view towards a prominent landmark.

Internal spaces flow vertically, horizontally and diagonally. Spaces are interconnected in unexpected ways to create dynamic environments whilst retaining privacy where needed.  This 5000sqm villa is tailored to support a large variety of functions, with ski in and out, entertainment complex and spa rivalling the best boutique hotels.

Externally, the house is designed as a contemporary castle, a crystalline sculpture made out of Gneiss stone with large faceted glazing and bronze detailing. The main volumes are partially cantilevered over the slope with large projecting terraces providing commanding views across the valley.  The sculptural roof with dragon scale stone tiles and snow stopping bronze teeth floats above crystalline facets.
